Did you know that sheepskin can actually be used for medical purposes? Yep, it’s true! When someone is bedridden, what’s one of the biggest complaints? Bedsores. If anyone has ever had an extended stay in a hospital bed, you know how uncomfortable it can be just lying there all day long. Now imagine if you’re recuperating at home and have to stay in bed most of the time. Bedsores are likely to form.

Sheepskin pads are known to prevent bedsores from happening. Sheepskin blankets in general are exceptionally cozy and warm for anyone, whether you’re stuck in bed or not. The medical pads are hypoallergenic, naturally flame-retardant, and will insulate against both the heat and the cold. You can place the pads on your bed, couch, or chair. They even make wheelchair pads to fit over any standard wheelchair. If a particular area of your body is feeling sore though, you can purchase a knee, heel, forearm, or elbow wrap. They also make covers for crutches. Just about everyone will be covered!

Start feeling the difference with medical sheepskin. Soon you’ll find yourself ordering sheepskin rugs and sheepskin slippers because you won’t be able to feel cozy without it.

I absolutely cannot walk around my home without wearing shoes or slippers. The thought of walking around my house in just my socks is quite bothersome. Part of it has to do with owning a cat and not wanting to step in cat liter. The other part just has to do with any dirt particles in general. I keep a very clean home, but there will always be dust and minute dirt throughout the home; it’s inevitable. That sticks to your socks and then you hop into bed with those same dirty socks. The idea is dreadful, to say the least.

Another reason is that sometimes a spill might have a occurred. Whether it’s a few drops of water or juice, I don’t need wet socks either. It’s a gross mess and I don’t want to track that around the home. While slippers keep my feet toasty warm they do a pretty great job of keeping my socks dirt-free. Sheepskin slippers take care of both issues quite well. From clogs to moccasin slippers, SheepSkinTown.com offers plenty of selection for both men and women.

Stay comfy and keep socks clean with affordable sheepskin slippers!

When you think about fur you automatically worry about shedding. It’s a natural thought process, especially if you have pets. But sheepskin does not shed because it is attached to the skin. Unlike wool fabric, it’s not woven and then brushed up. Instead, it’s embedded into the leather.

Sheepskin is also water resistant, static -free (a huge plus in the winter), flame resistant, and wind proof. These are all the qualities one could only dream of during winter’s icy storms. The fur is made to keep sheep warm, so why wouldn’t you assume it will do just as good a job for you? And when snowflakes fall or even rain on warmer days, the sheepskin will stay warm even if wet. The fur can absorb 30% of its own weight in moisture without even feeling wet. So you’ll always stay dry. You can’t say that about leather.

Best of all, it’s easy to care for these products. You don’t need much care at all really. It’s naturally resistant to snags, tears, wrinkles, and dirt. All you need to do is an occasional brushing or shake them out and vacuum them. Whether it be a sheepskin rug or blankets, you won’t have to do much to get a lot in return.

Gloves are one thing of course, but mittens are for little kids are they not?

Well no, you are completely wrong about that. Mittens are cool these days. Perhaps it is something in the kitschy childlike wonderment that mittens conjure or maybe it is simply that these are some warm winter fashion accessories.

For anyone considering taking the leap into mitten wearing as an adult I would eagerly recommend sheepskin mittens. If you are considering mittens no form of them could be more adult-like than these sharp and cozy sheepskin mittens. Sheepskin of course is one of the best materials going and people are starting to figure it out. A sheepskin mitten will keep your hands warm throughout the cold months which are just now hitting their frosty stride.

Sure, maybe gloves are the more practical choice if you are hoping to do some serious outdoor work, but frankly even the most lose gloves are incredibly difficult to work in. Better to concern yourself with keeping warm in mittens than worrying about all the work you can’t do in gloves. That’s just my opinion though.

I go through more lip balm and hand moisturizer than I’d like to think about. Even though I try to wear gloves and mittens as often as possible when the temperature drops, cold air seems to always seep through and it’s not long before the back of my hands start resembling sandpaper.

It didn’t take me long before I realized what the source of the problem was. I was continually wearing cheap gloves that didn’t provide enough insulation for my hands. The solution? I had to be willing to spend a bit more money on gloves that I knew would protect my hands. But spending more money also meant better quality and better quality means the gloves are going to last several seasons before any damage is done.

Sheepskin gloves not only keep my hands incredibly warm, even on the most bitter cold days, but they lock in that moisture so my hands never dry out. I’m sure hand lotion companies are sad that I don’t need quite as much lotion now, but my hands certainly appreciate the change.

Shop at SheepskinTown.com to find warm and stylish sheepskin mittens and gloves, as well as sheepskin rugs, slippers, and more.

The first day I wasn’t sure if it was truly broken or just on the fritz and would return to normal the following day. But when the temperature continued to plummet and I could practically see my breath, it was time to give the landlord a ring. Because of a missing part, the heater was not fixed until the following evening. Needless to say, it was freezing. I wrapped myself in so many layers of clothing and bedding that I probably just looked like a lump hidden under my bed.

Now if I had a sheepskin blanket, I probably could have gotten rid of four other layers. Nothing is more warm, cozy, and comforting than sheepskin. It will come in hand on the days when your own heater goes on the fritz. But it’s also a great way to save a bit on the heating bill. Just lower the temperature a few degrees and wrap yourself in the warmth of the blanket. SheepskinTown.com offers blankets in several different colors to match your home’s style.

Also look for sheepskin rugs and sheepskin slippers to keep you warm on these frigid days.

We would all as a family set up in the living room to watch some movies. Snacks would sit on the coffee table while my parents would sprawl out onto the couch and me and my brothers would sit on that sheepskin rug. It was so soft and comfy I could hardly imagine I wasn’t sitting on a cloud. As the hours would tick through my brothers and I would each at our own time drift off to sleep right on that rug. We all simply found it incredibly comfortable.

Sheepskin rugs have that effect on people. If you lie on one, you want to immerse yourself in how soft and perfect it all is. Nestling up inside those tufts of wool will have you wishing every surface you would ever press your body up against were made of luxurious sheepskin.

Now that I’m older I try and get as much gear as I can in that lustrous sheepskin material. From sheepskin boots to sheepskin mittens. I just love the way the material feels. Warm and soft like all of the best fabrics. It is as if the kid dozing off on that rug never grew up.

It is a region of Greece, which in Ancient times was thought to be inhabited by the Greek god Pan. Nicolas Poussin, one of the best landscape painters during the European Renaissance, often painted Arcadian pictures depicting scenes of shepherds, such as this one to the right. In it, classically dressed shepherds find an ancient tomb, with the inscription Et in Arcadia Ego, which means I am in Arcadia. It is a memento mori, a reminder of death, and an exhortation to live while we are alive.

Arcadia is also associated with a pastoral utopian setting, immune to vice and disruption from the outside world. The nostalgia for a simpler time, without Facebook and cities, hearkens back to a Golden Age of human civilization, when man lived off the land, with his sheep for meat and sheepskin boots, his oranges to be plucked from trees and constant sunshine and satisfaction to be derived from such a beautiful natural landscape.

This is an idealized version of Arcadia which carries nearly two thousand years of symbolic resonance. And since you can’t have Arcadia without sheep and shepherds, it is also what a sheepskin rug represents.

What if you accidentally spilled something, such as red wine, on your sheepskin rug? Act fast to soak up as much of the staining liquid as possible. Luckily, sheep’s wool is resistant to stains. Blot the stain with cold water. Then get a wool shampoo, dish detergent, or other mild soap to get the stain out. Move inwards, blotting continually.

If the stain has dribbled, consider treating it with soap and then setting it into the washing machine. After soaking in the machine for an hour it should be pretty much clean. Don’t put it in the dryer. Let it air dry in an area without direct sunlight, which can damage the wool fibers. If need be, wash it again. And if you can still see the stain after all of these home remedies, it may be time to seek professional help for your sheepskin rug.

The stain-resistant fibers of a real sheepskin rug should allow you to eventually clean it so it looks brand new. And since a real sheepskin rug is resilient enough over time to always look fresh and soft, you don’t have to worry about washing too hard.

Since the domestication of sheep, and probably even before that, their furs have been esteemed as one of the best ways to keep warm. Sheep’s wool is resistant to all of the elements and miraculously, stays cool in the summer and warm in the winter. But sheepskin boots and coats are not the only uses for sheepskin; that is, sheepskin rugs have an aesthetic value as well.

When you see a sheepskin rug on the floor it becomes apparent that you are in a realm of opulence. The fact that this household can afford to have a sheepskin not to wear, but to lay on the ground and warm the toes, to provide a wild and rugged texture that will surely inspire a modicum of awe in the guest.

And best of all, because sheepskin rugs are relatively colorless, their texture becomes that much more bold, a great addition to a room lacking a certain oomph in the way of interior design. Mix it with leather, suede, or upholstery — a sheepskin rug goes with everything, from contemporary styling to more traditi0nal. There’s little doubt that a sheepskin rug wouldn’t improve your interior design, no matter what kind of room you have.
