The Wonder of Medical Sheepskin

February 20th, 2012 | Posted by KristenM in Sheepskin Products - (0 Comments)

sheepskin rugsSheepskin is truly a versatile and wonderful product. Did you know that sheepskin can actually be used for medical purposes? Yep, it’s true! When someone is bedridden, what’s one of the biggest complaints? Bedsores. If anyone has ever had an extended stay in a hospital bed, you know how uncomfortable it can be just lying there all day long. Now imagine if you’re recuperating at home and have to stay in bed most of the time. Bedsores are likely to form.

Sheepskin pads are known to prevent bedsores from happening. Sheepskin blankets in general are exceptionally cozy and warm for anyone, whether you’re stuck in bed or not. The medical pads are hypoallergenic, naturally flame-retardant, and will insulate against both the heat and the cold. You can place the pads on your bed, couch, or chair. They even make wheelchair pads to fit over any standard wheelchair. If a particular area of your body is feeling sore though, you can purchase a knee, heel, forearm, or elbow wrap. They also make covers for crutches. Just about everyone will be covered!

Start feeling the difference with medical sheepskin. Soon you’ll find yourself ordering sheepskin rugs and sheepskin slippers because you won’t be able to feel cozy without it.

I Can’t Walk in My Home Without Slippers

February 13th, 2012 | Posted by KristenM in Sheepskin Products - (0 Comments)

sheepskin slippersOver the years I developed somewhat of an OCD habit with slippers. I absolutely cannot walk around my home without wearing shoes or slippers. The thought of walking around my house in just my socks is quite bothersome. Part of it has to do with owning a cat and not wanting to step in cat liter. The other part just has to do with any dirt particles in general. I keep a very clean home, but there will always be dust and minute dirt throughout the home; it’s inevitable. That sticks to your socks and then you hop into bed with those same dirty socks. The idea is dreadful, to say the least.

Another reason is that sometimes a spill might have a occurred. Whether it’s a few drops of water or juice, I don’t need wet socks either. It’s a gross mess and I don’t want to track that around the home. While slippers keep my feet toasty warm they do a pretty great job of keeping my socks dirt-free. Sheepskin slippers take care of both issues quite well. From clogs to moccasin slippers, SheepSkinTown.com offers plenty of selection for both men and women.

Stay comfy and keep socks clean with affordable sheepskin slippers!

The Benefits of Sheepskin

February 6th, 2012 | Posted by KristenM in Sheepskin Products - (0 Comments)

sheepskin rugsWhile warmth is the number one reason people enjoy sheepskin accessories and sheepskin rugs, there are a plethora of other benefits that make it an ideal choice. When you think about fur you automatically worry about shedding. It’s a natural thought process, especially if you have pets. But sheepskin does not shed because it is attached to the skin. Unlike wool fabric, it’s not woven and then brushed up. Instead, it’s embedded into the leather.

Sheepskin is also water resistant, static -free (a huge plus in the winter), flame resistant, and wind proof. These are all the qualities one could only dream of during winter’s icy storms. The fur is made to keep sheep warm, so why wouldn’t you assume it will do just as good a job for you? And when snowflakes fall or even rain on warmer days, the sheepskin will stay warm even if wet. The fur can absorb 30% of its own weight in moisture without even feeling wet. So you’ll always stay dry. You can’t say that about leather.

Best of all, it’s easy to care for these products. You don’t need much care at all really. It’s naturally resistant to snags, tears, wrinkles, and dirt. All you need to do is an occasional brushing or shake them out and vacuum them. Whether it be a sheepskin rug or blankets, you won’t have to do much to get a lot in return.

Smoother Hands Thanks to Sheepskin Gloves

January 11th, 2012 | Posted by KristenM in Sheepskin Products - (0 Comments)

sheepskin mittensOne of the worst parts about winter is the dry skin. I go through more lip balm and hand moisturizer than I’d like to think about. Even though I try to wear gloves and mittens as often as possible when the temperature drops, cold air seems to always seep through and it’s not long before the back of my hands start resembling sandpaper.

It didn’t take me long before I realized what the source of the problem was. I was continually wearing cheap gloves that didn’t provide enough insulation for my hands. The solution? I had to be willing to spend a bit more money on gloves that I knew would protect my hands. But spending more money also meant better quality and better quality means the gloves are going to last several seasons before any damage is done.

Sheepskin gloves not only keep my hands incredibly warm, even on the most bitter cold days, but they lock in that moisture so my hands never dry out. I’m sure hand lotion companies are sad that I don’t need quite as much lotion now, but my hands certainly appreciate the change.

Shop at SheepskinTown.com to find warm and stylish sheepskin mittens and gloves, as well as sheepskin rugs, slippers, and more.

A Sheepskin Blanket When the Heater Breaks

January 10th, 2012 | Posted by KristenM in Sheepskin Blankets - (0 Comments)

sheepskin rugsA few weeks ago the heater in my apartment decided to stop working. The first day I wasn’t sure if it was truly broken or just on the fritz and would return to normal the following day. But when the temperature continued to plummet and I could practically see my breath, it was time to give the landlord a ring. Because of a missing part, the heater was not fixed until the following evening. Needless to say, it was freezing. I wrapped myself in so many layers of clothing and bedding that I probably just looked like a lump hidden under my bed.

Now if I had a sheepskin blanket, I probably could have gotten rid of four other layers. Nothing is more warm, cozy, and comforting than sheepskin. It will come in hand on the days when your own heater goes on the fritz. But it’s also a great way to save a bit on the heating bill. Just lower the temperature a few degrees and wrap yourself in the warmth of the blanket. SheepskinTown.comĀ  offers blankets in several different colors to match your home’s style.

Also look for sheepskin rugs and sheepskin slippers to keep you warm on these frigid days.
